Advanced
And Efficient Operations
Lennard Ag has 4700 acres in two Michigan operations(Southeast and Southwest) and currently produces Potatoes, and Soybean.
Potato contracts range from local chippers and Eastern seaboard chippers to Frito-Lay.
Additionally, Lennard Ag diversified its potato business in 2005, offering Russet potatoes for fresh market, food service, or fresh cut.
The company has 5 full-time employees and 10 seasonal workers,
including full-time office staff.
The Lennard Ag Southwest operation has well-drained soils and a
100% irrigated land base. This land provides frost protection from
the Great Lakes and the large land base ensures extended rotation.
The Southeast operation covers the area from Blissfield to Monroe,
Michigan. This area is strategically located to deliver freight advantages
compared to most operations throughout Michigan. This southern location
gives us an earlier shipping window and movement can start in the
last week of July. And to keep hands-on management of these operations,
both Kim and Kyle Lennard are licensed private pilots.
Being on the leading edge of new ag practices is important, so
Lennard Ag uses a number of business practices to do just that. They
include:
- Working with market and business consultants
- Participating in new chemical trials
- Using GPS grid sampling and yield mapping
- Employing 20-inch corn rows
- Consulting with Michigan State University and the Michigan Potato Council
- Assisting Michigan State University in variety trials
- Utilizing new, state-of-the-art equipment which is all housed inside
- Having on-site storage facilities
- Conducting efficient operations with internal controls to deliver consistency in quality.
