Shop Mechanic

Salary Grade: $19-25 an hour

Department: Maintenance

Summary of Duties:   
Maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as
tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems.
Schedule preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and
effective operations
Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools.
Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation
and making adjustments, as necessary.
Clean and lubricate parts.
Diagnose components to determine method of repair needed
Safely operate a wide variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment
Perform DOT Vehicle Inspections
Service repair/inspection documentation-record details of repairs made
and parts used.
Carry out machine shop duties as allocated in a timely manner
Maintain parts inventory records

Education and Work Experience/Requirement:
Previous farm experience is recommended but not required.
Must possess a valid driver’s license
High School Diploma or GED Required
At least a 2-year degree in ag mechanics or diesel technology

Skill Set Requirements:       
Welding experience preferred
Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities while maintaining tight
deadlines.
Ability to work occasional evenings, and holidays as needed to meet
production requirements.
Ability to understand and follow oral instructions to perform mechanical
repairs without supervision

Working Conditions:      
Standing and walking for longer periods of time
Work is performed in a shop/farm operational setting
Activities may require PPE.
May be exposed to weather conditions such as dust, wind, wet, and humid
conditions.
Some travel may be required.
Work environment required immediate response to spontaneous
customer demands 
Hours of operation will range from 7am to 4pm and may vary based on the
demand of the crop, and what season we are in

Quality Standards: Required to follow company and departmental quality standards.
