Shop Mechanic

Salary Grade: $19-25 an hour

Department: Maintenance
Summary of Duties:
• Maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as
tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems.
• Schedule preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and
effective operations
• Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools.
• Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation
and making adjustments, as necessary.
• Clean and lubricate parts.
• Diagnose components to determine method of repair needed
• Safely operate a wide variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment
• Perform DOT Vehicle Inspections
• Service repair/inspection documentation-record details of repairs made
and parts used.
• Carry out machine shop duties as allocated in a timely manner
• Maintain parts inventory records
Education and Work Experience/Requirement:
• Previous farm experience is recommended but not required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• High School Diploma or GED Required
• At least a 2-year degree in ag mechanics or diesel technology
Skill Set Requirements:
• Welding experience preferred
• Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities while maintaining tight
deadlines.
• Ability to work occasional evenings, and holidays as needed to meet
production requirements.
• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions to perform mechanical
repairs without supervision
Working Conditions:
• Standing and walking for longer periods of time
• Work is performed in a shop/farm operational setting
• Activities may require PPE.
• May be exposed to weather conditions such as dust, wind, wet, and humid
conditions.
• Some travel may be required.
• Work environment required immediate response to spontaneous
customer demands
• Hours of operation will range from 7am to 4pm and may vary based on the
demand of the crop, and what season we are in

Quality Standards: Required to follow company and departmental quality standards.
